Renowned and highly respected photographer Annie Leibovitz recently gave an interview about the future of photography.

In the interview, she pointed out how the difference between us (the photographers) and everyone else is, that we take what we do very seriously. She further explained that in this day and age of things moving so fast, we still long for things to stop.. and we – as a society – love the still image. Those who want to be serious photographers will need to edit their work. A real photographer today needs to really understand what he or she is doing.

She explained how photographers today will need to go beyond just shooting, shooting and shooting. They will need to stop and look at their work. This will become one of the more important steps for photographers in the future.

To become a good photographer today, she said you should have trust in what you think. If you splinter yourself and try to please everyone, you can’t. It’s important to stay the course.

“I don’t think I would have lasted this long if I’d listened to anyone.
You have to listen somewhat and then put that to the side and
know that what you do matters.”
